National Friendship Day was created by the US Congress in 1935 to honor the importance of friendships. Today National Friendship Day remains as a tradition that is practiced in many nations and cultures. Another fun fact: the United Nations named Winnie the Pooh as the world’s Ambassador of Friendship, in 1997.
